New Entry Notices

It is possible for you as an author to ask Travelog to notify people by email whenever you add a new entry to your travelog. This document explains how to do this, and what the people on your notification list will see.

Setting Up

To set up the notification list, you need to use the Notify Others link which is found in the Your Travelog section. If you have already set up some recipients, then these will be displayed. To invite a new person on to your notification list, add the name and email address to the form on the page and send the invitation with the Go! button.

You can remove people that you've added by using the Remove links next to their names. They will not be sent an email informing them that they've been removed.

What's next

The system will attempt to send an email to the address you gave, and if it's successful, the recipient of your invitation can choose to use the link in the email to accept the invitation and join. Until then, Travelog will not send any further emails.

Once a person accepts, that address will receive a short note from Travelog every time you submit a new diary entry. In the body of the note there will also be instructions for opting out of the notification schedule, which involves just one link, after which no further notices will be sent to them.

Limitations

The notice system does have some limitations - some imposed by design, some accidental.
