Travelog/Entry locking

It is possible in Travelog to lock individual travelog entries and your entire travelog as well. This provides two levels of protection:

Travelog level locking
You can lock the whole travelog to prevent strangers viewing it (because you only give the key to people you know)
Entry level locking
You can also lock individual entries so that only people with a different key can view them.

So using a combination of travelog level locking and entry level locking you can have one of four configurations:

No locking
Anybody can view your travelog
Entry level locking
Anybody can view your travelog, but some entries are only visible to those people with the entry key
Travelog level locking
Your travelog is completely inaccessible to anyone without a travelog key from you
Both levels
Only people with your travelog key can view your travelog, and only those people with both your travelog key and your entry key can view any entries which you have chosen to lock

The locking mechanism is controlled from the Manage Locking page.

Note well: your travelog key and entry key are not related to your user name and password in anyway. It is a very bad idea to use the same word or phrase in your password as in your travelog and entry keys.

Managing your locks

From the Manage Locking page you can set up or remove your travelog key and your entry key. Setting up a travelog key is equivalent to locking the travelog, so be sure you remember the key you type in. With the entry key, you must also lock entries individually.

If you have already set up a travelog or entry key, then you have the option to change it here. Remeber that if you change your key, readers will be unable to see your travelog or the individual entries you have locked until you send them your new key.

You can also remove all your entry locks at once here (which is in fact the same as removing your entry key).

Locking / unlocking an entry

Locking an entry is simplicity itself. From the Change or Delete Entry page simply pick the entry you want to lock and use the Lock button. If the entry is already locked, you will see an Unlock button instead, so that's how you unlock an individual entry.
