mandy: day two: This is the third time i am writing this entry as the lst two attempts have been lost so i will apologise ahead of time if it is not up to the usual standard... we woke up this morn a little anda da wetha. It was freezing but surprisingly refreshing as the cold air managed to dull out the monstous throbbing that had meraculously developed in our heads. I took wayne five cups of tea and a few pain killers to feel normal. And I recovered after a bottle of fun( fanta!!!).
I then had a briliant idea and was surprised how quickly and enthusiastically the rest of the group jumped at it. I suggested we take plastic bags and go to the highest mountain in the western hemisphere and slide down it on our lily white bums. so the sillyness continued and we made our way to the bus stop to catch the bus only four klm up the road to Puente del Inca. We managed to stay on the bus a further two klm to the point at which you walk onto the mountain...´fromthere we were only able to walk lazily about another klm. At which point the urge to jump in the snow became to great for some( I cant mention who here) and so we did. It was great filming the throughing themselves in strange possitins against the mountain. And thenwe began the decent down the mountain singing theme songs from dirty dancing and any other 80s ovie songs we could come up with ... until... wayne realised his wallet was missing. so wayne and i climbed back up the mountain (about 3 klm this time) in da freezo cold. with the ice that had collected in the packets in my shoes now melted and sloshing about... slush puppy mandy feet.brrrrrrrrrrrrr it was cold. we didnt find the wallet and wayne was sad, we both were freezo and wede missed la bus!!! ok so start walking... que big truck....que freindly chilian truck driver with big bread knife stuck in dash board....= one times lift home. Wayne went off to sort ut his credit card mess and the rest of the group started planning as Id had yet another totally silly but load of fun idea, to make a cheesy vampire movie. I thought it might take waynes mind off things and it turned out it did. we had great fun getting dressed up and hanging from the rafters in our wooden refugio and driping wine to look like blood in the snow. Lenny cooked up a storm with the meat we had bought and some veggies they had found in Puente del Inca. I helped with the marinade( garic, mustard, honey, rosemary and black pepper). dinner was incredible. we filmed wayne eating in the begining of the movie...It turned out really well... so cheesy its scary in itself. After the making of the film we danced and danced and drank ............................................. hot chocolate. (I have just been told that there is a rumour we will need alcohol drips when we get home to ween us off the liquer. We have thought this through seriously but have come to the conclution that it is nt a problem as we are showering and brushing our teeth inbetween drinksssssssssssssssss so as to equate our water to liquer intake. its all good(-:
Day three: some of the crew were due back in Buenos Aires, so with sad hearts we said goodbye to Lenny, shirly, magie and Lirisa. After this wayne beya and i headed back up to Puente del Inca to check out the ruins. the ancient incas used the natural ht springs here to bath in and they built a bridge that is still standing today, to make them easily accessible. we arived as it started to snow. it was so cold, unlike any cold.. the wind seemed to creep through every tiny thred of fabric. wayne and beya bought some socks and beya bought a hat. i bought a wistle and some gloves. The wistle proved a good distraction from the cold. I was quite dissapointed that we had not known it is possible to bath in the springs as they were very warm and there is a ruin of about 100 yrs old spa bath area( check the net for a pic). It was a trully incredible place, and very obvious to see why the incas would have found it to be spiritual. As you can imagine continual hot water coming out of the valley on the side of a masive continually snow capped mountain. Wayne was feeling a little better by this stage and we managed to cheer him more with a couple movies, and pizzas in the refugio that night. Javier laughed at the three of us sitting on the couch all huddled together in our sleeping bags.
