It's wonderful to be able to travel the world and meet new people. While I was in a hostel in Interlaken, Switzerland. I happened to get somewhat drunk with a couple of other people from the Funny Farm Hostel. One of which was Bill. It's amazing how conversations can end up in having great friends from around the world. Here's someone who I had never met in my life, and after 2 days I was invited to go and stay at his parents place in Jersey (only 1 hour from New York).
As soon as I had arrived, I felt completely at home. It possibly had something to do with the fact that I was in a HOME and not a Hostel for the first time in weeks as well. Either way, it was great to meet Bills parents who were very accomodating and some of Bills friends. I really felt as if I lived only an hour away myself and not half way around the world.
It makes you realise just how easily we can all make friends and how friendly we can be when the situation calls for it. The hospitality has been happily appreciated and if anyone is coming to Australia in the future, I am only too happy to return the favour and do all I can to see that they have as great a reception as what I did.
After only 2 days there it was back to New York. Bill had an interview for a job with a talent agency so it was great to go for a drive back to the city. Very proud too. After a 1 hour wait and a 45 minute interview ... Bill got the job. Well done Mate.
