cable car in quito, and ecuator

Date: 19 Feb 2008, 20:21 Place: Quito, Ecuador

Mood: Happy

19th February the first place we went to was just outside Quito, A very large monument to mark the spot where the Equator lies, with a museum inside about the different indigenous people of Ecuador, which was very interesting to see that there are about 6 different “tribes” each with there own different clothing style which the most obvious thing you would notice would be the hats, they all have a different style of hat. There isn't really much to say about the Equator line, it was a line in the floor and a big monument with a big “world” on it, but I suppose I can say that I have stood in both the north and the south hemispheres both at the same time. We also decided to go up the cable car in Quito that goes to the top of one of the mountains to a few shops that look over the City, I was recommended to do this by my guide, I was told to go up the cable car and then to carry on walking further up the mountain to see if I had any problems with the altitude, there was a great view of the city as we were going up in the cable car but the higher we went the cloudier it got, but as a was recommended we went to the top and carried on walking for about an hour with no obvious effects from the altitude.
