Achill Island, Ireland
Date: 14 Sep 2007, 10:37 Place: Achill Island, Ireland
Mood: Happy
Spent 13 days in Ireland at Theresa's cottage on Achilll Island, the largest island on the Atlantic coast. The cottage was a real mess, but we did a lot of work to clean it up. I met a lot of great guys, drank dozens of pints of Guinness and even got invited out on a fishing trawler, although the weather didn't cooperate. The best things to see were Keem Bay, the Atlantic Drive, the Deserted Village and Achill Sound. We had a peat burning fire, which is essentially burning dirt, but it works and it's really warm. We picked mussels and cockles from the beach, and talked to friends and family about ways to fix up the place, as the damp has gotten to it now.
