On arrival at Kunming airport I could not believe how cold it was absolutely freezing. Joseph was there waiting in arrivals for me. With a huge hug and we could not stop kissing it was like a scene out of a movie. He carried my rucksack and we got a cab not parting our lips the whole journey to the hotel. He had booked us into the Camellia hotel. The room had 2 single beds not good but never mind. To venture out Jo had to give me some of his clothes including a fur hat! We spent the afternoon holding hands touring the city of Kunming. He took me to a lovely little restaurant which had a log fire burning so romantic. He kept saying to me 'I cant believe we are here in China together I am so happy'. I was also so happy to be with him even though I knew we only had 1 week. That night we put the electric blankett on and Jo got dressed up in his thermals (long jons and sweater) to go to bed! The next day we changed rooms to a double with an extra heater. Jo was not well he had the flu, so left him to get some more sleep and do some meditation. He meditates everyday! I needed to buy some thermals and warm clothes. It was horrrible no-one what so ever spoke English and I had trouble trying to find a bank that would cash my travellers cheques! It was like being on another planet even the signs are written in Chinese. Luckily I manged to buy some boots which were lined with fur and some pink thermal long jons and sweater! So sexy. When I got back Jo was feeling a little better so we went back to bed for a few hours then got dressed up in my thermals, boots jeans and shirt, 2 jackets and scarf and hat to go for new years eve! First we went and shared a pizza and spag bol. Had a few beers which are drunk out of shot glasses! a few G & Ts then went to a bar called The Camel Club. We had took our own Sang Som which I had brought from Thailand and danced till midnight. Then snogged each others face off we really just could not leave each other alone it was beautiful. The place was really busy we had such a great time then we were told of a club called The Hump so we jumped into a cab and went there. It was playing techno sort of music which I dont really like but we danced the night away there. We drank so much. I tripped down some stairs flat on to my face! I chipped my tooth then went and done it again! Both times I am there laying on the floor! Just glad Jo wasnt around to see me! Everyone we met that night we told them I was his wife Mrs Zenderdal. Not too sure what time we left must have been about 5ish. I can not remeber even getting home we were that hammered! We spent the next day in bed all day we ordered down for room service and watched fashion tv in bed all day it was like being in heaven. The next day we went to Yuantong Si a large budhist complex then to Cuihu Gongylian where we hired peddle boats ours looked like a car and we sat cuddling while peddling our boat around this huge lake. So romantic then we went to the Kunming Plaza hotel the bar was on the top floor with amazing views of the lake and park.and I had a ameretto hot chocolate which was yummy. Then I went and had a massage while Jo looked around. We attempted to go to some Chinese restaurant in the park where I ordered veg soup but it was cabbage in water. The food here is the worst I have ever had so far I have not really liked anything apart from western food. On the way back to the hotel we walked down a busy street with many bars and restaurants and shops where to my disgust saw a Chinese guy being pulled out of a club the police were hitting him with batons, blood pouring out of some part of his body and his trousers around his ankles (he did have long jons on) being dragged along the floor. Really not nice. The next day we had booked to go to the 'Shilin' stone forest but neither me or Jo could get out of bed so we missed the trip! But when we managed to get up we had a great day. We went to the Bamboo temple which was incredible the temples are so colourful with golds and reds and the sculptures inside are amazing. We then went to Daguan Gongyulan which was a beautiful park with small temples, rocky, lovely bridges, sculptures hundreds of flowers huge trees. We walked along the river there and saw the most awsome sunset in my life the sky was orange red purple green, it looked like the sky was on fire and reflected on the river we sat in orr just watching taking photos and kissing under this amazing sky. Jo then rolled us a joint and we got really stoned! We then headed for the trainstation and as we were early we went and had a foot massage which was great holding hands all the way threw. That evening we caught the sleeper train to Dali. We had seperate beds but got the top bunks so we could face each other all night. When we were rudely awoken with people spitting and talking so loudly I climbed over to Jo s bunk and we had a quick cuddle before being told off but a guard! I wanted not to go to Dali but straight to Lijiang but Jo wanted to go to Dali so I agreed. Dali was a pretty little town with beautiful temples and fresh water running through the whole town. We then caught the bus to Lijiang. The scenery on the bus was amazing with mountains and rivers, small villiages many kinds of animals either working the fields or being work carts. We arrived in Lijiang which was breathetaking. The streets are all cobbled and there is a river running threw the town with mineral water from the Jade Mountain that towers above us. The shops are all designed like temples it is amazing. We went that afternoon to Mu mansion the former home of the Naxi Chief. The mansion was beautiful so colourful like everything else in China. We sat in the mansions gardens over a pond while Jo fed me strawberries. That evening we went to see the Naxi orchestra which was incredible. There used to be 34 members but each year they are losing a couple and the youngest member of the orchestra is 78! The orchestra was unbelievable real authentic chinese music. Jo fell asleep which made me giggle and could not stop it was such a funny sight! After that we walked around at this amazing town then got really stoned. The next day we went to the Jade dragon mountain which is 5500 feet, and snow capped it was incredible. We caught the bus then walked to a villiage and took a horse up the mountain. The little villiage where we hired the horse was off the beaten track and everyone in the villiage looked at us! We took the horses to a small lake called Jade lake the water was jade and there were rainbow trout swimming in it. All different colors. There were natural fountains and waterfalls and a temple built in the mountain. We only managed to get to 3350 feet where we sat and admired the amazing views. What a stunning and amazing views I have never seen anything so beautiful in my life. We had to return but I would have liked to go to the top of the mountain but I did not have enough time. We headed back to town and went for dinner at a tibetian restaurant we border tibet from here. The food was great first time! Then Jo had to walk me to the bus station where I left him, we cuddled and kissed lots then I went off to the airport. I flew to Kunming spent the night in the hotel on my own then boarded my flight to Bangkok. I must say I will never forget this week as long as I live and would like to let Jo know I had the most amazing week and will never ever forget him. x x x I really love China.
