Hey folks, just a quick message and a few photos today. I thought I'd let you know about some possible problems out here tonight. Since the military ousted Thaksin, they've been doing everything they can to suppress and oppress any freedom of speech. A couple of pro Thaksin websites were set up, quickly banned, Thaksin phoned into a couple of radio stations and these were immediately raided and closed down. These attempts by the current government to permanantly discredit the former PM and his political party is culminating with an attempt to disband his political party, Thai rak Thai, through the courts. I don't know the full details but in my eyes its the equivalent of saying in Britain that The Conservatives are shady and therefore we must break the party up. Now considering that Thai Rak Thai won the last elections you're looking at over 50% of the population being told that they were wrong and that their political choice is being forceably removed.
Apparently there are bus loads of people from all over Thailand being prevented from entering Bangkok by the army. The King has said that this decision could have dire consequences i.e. fuck the place up further and that the courts should think carefully. I genuinely have no idea whats gonna happen and I just hope common sense prevails (that doesn't exist out here by the way!) I don't know if Thaksin is involved but I tell you one thing, I'm glad that chap's not trying to buy my football club.
For those of you with no interests in politics that would have been about as interesting as my lesson on present perfect continuous today in which two students managed to sleep for over 80% of the lesson. "Why aren't you waking them up?" I hear you cry. Well, considering that they're dullhards and that I spent the first 20% of the lesson kicking their desks and drawing on their ears in an attempt to stir them from their slumbers, coupled with the knowledge that the lazy turds will pass anyway, I couldn't be arsed.
Not much else to report now I'm back working. I really do need to get working out and I'm waiting for a Fitness First to open up at our school, should get 60% off. My man breasts have been concerning me recently and there aren't too many days that pass by without someone going, "ahhh khun mee nom yai" which literally means "you have big milk!" Starts to wear you down after a while, especially when ladies compare themselves with you and then walk off disappointed after being outscored in the jugs category.
