We went on a lovely day out on Sunday. I was a bit hungover so Steph was in charge of making all the decisions. We wanted to go to a beach or go for a nice walk somewhere pretty. We headed to Diamond Hill because we heard from a website that you could get the number 7 bus all the way to Hoi Ha which is past Sai Kung. There is a marine park there where you can snorkle. We couldn't find the number 7 bus, or in fact any buses that went there so we found a lovely man who asked a bus driver for us (people here are really helpful, we were looking a little lost and he took the time to look at our map and ask how we got there...thankyou Mr man, very much apreciated). In the end no one really knew how to get there so the nice man went to ask a taxi driver for us and he seemed to know where he was going. It cost us a fair bit, and we didn't get to the exact place we were heading, but we did end up in a really pretty place. (might I add on the way we saw the elusive number 7 bus..and another 2 buses that we saw at Diamond Hill MTR station...grr at least we know for next time the number 94, and the 96R)
Wong Shek; there is a ferry pier there with ferries that go to Tap mun, and also to Chek Keng. There were also some smaller boats parked at the pier which would take you places for $100 dollars, which isn't all that bad really. We didn't have a clue where Chek Keng was, and we missed the ferry to Tap mun, so we just jumped on a random boat at the pier in the hope that it would take us somewhere pretty...and also bring us back too. We just smiled at the guy when we got on and he pointed us upstairs. Some guy came round to collect $15 dollars from us both and off we went. The boat made two stops, the first was Wan Tsai. We saw the beach from the boat, but we were enjoying the open top boat far too much that we stayed on to see where else we would go. At Wan Tsai there was a nice little secluded campsite which we will be heading back to visit at a later date....when we find where to hire a tent from :) The next stop was Chek Keng...not a great deal here, no beach but lots and lots of trees, I think when we go camping we will come here and explore, there looked to be mountain paths...and I'm hoping butterflies! On our way to pulling in to Chek Keng on the boat an exciting thing happened (and we were on a boat that was pretty exciting to start with). I heard a strange bird noise and I looked round to the back of the boat and there was a really pretty black and white bird with an orange beak, then i spotted another one, and another until there were around 15 of these birds following our boat. They would swoop and dive to catch fish in the boats wake. It was really pretty.
We wanted to hire a sail boat from the Water centre at Wong Shek, but parently you have to have a certificate saying you are qualified...pfft....I don't think they realised what an expert I am when it comes to all things Sea...I'm sure I would be a natural.
We ended the day with dinner at Jordan Temple Spicy Crab. We were wanting to go to Sai Kung for tea...but we didn't get off the bus...oops.
