So I don't really have anything exciting to talk about but since I'm sitting here in the Labour Party press office (yay for having a computer for the day!) doing next to nothing I figured I may as well write one of these things.
Last Friday I finally went with a friend down to Powerscourt Estate, which is like 20 minutes from where I live. Its this huge house with acres of gardens and lakes and whatnot...very pretty on a nice day. There's a huge staircase going up from the lake to the house and thats where they filmed that scene from "The Count of Monte Cristo", ya know, where he descends from the hot air balloon and walks down the stairs...yeah, I know its not much but any little semblance of fame is interesting at this point. But anyway, it was a really relaxing day just strolling around the gardens and shops, and then we split this delicious fruit torte (the only thing we could easily afford) out on the terrace overlooking the grounds. It was nice.
Pretty much uneventful the rest of the weekend. I stayed in Sandycove most of the time because it was cold and windy out and I had homework to do for once. Tried to go into Dublin Saturday night but got screwed over by the public transportation, so I ended up buying a bottle of sherry with a friend b/c it was the cheapest thing in the little store up the street and we had never had it. NEVER EVER drink this! Its DISGUSTING. We just chilled at my house and watched Sex and the City (thank god for American programming), but wow that stuff was putrid. Ate cheese and crackers on Sunday...thats about it. Yeah, travelling the world is really exciting and romantic...I know you're all jealous.
But in any event, it helped to save money for this coming weekend when Matt and Hector come visit me :) We'll be staying in Dublin so I can stay out as late as I want and we can go to the Guinness factory and do our very own pub crawl since it'll probably be the only time I'll be in Dublin at night. But no worries, it won't ALL be drinking...I'm sure they'll want to do cultural things as well, right boys? Museums and art galleries and whatnot ;) I'm just very excited to have some contact with my real life, because this is clearly my fake one.
I know there's been a serious lull in exciting entries on this thing since I've been just chillin in Sandycove lately, but after this weekend I'm sure I'll have lots more stories and pictures to put up. Then next weekend is the Belfast trip, the weekend after that is London/Liverpool (pray I can scalp some tickets for the match), and hopefully the travelling just won't stop from then until December. I'll put up some pictures from Powerscourt once I get a chance at school tomorrow. Can't wait to see you boys in TWO DAYS (hooray!). PS GO RED SOX!!!!!!!
