Just a quick note of apology to everyone who has emailed me in the last couple of months. This is the time of year for us when, given the chance, we would hibernate. I know it’s not as cold as Europe and I’m sorry for that but it’s bloody cold and wet and miserable at the moment, never feel like blogging or emailing at all. We’ve had a couple of tropical cyclones but not as many as in recent years, Bussleton caught a fierce one a few days back which ripped hundreds of roofs off, our new roof is (thankfully) still in place. The new car is a treat and great for thrashing through flooded roads. WA has an energy crisis at the moment as a major gas plant on Veranus Island blew up a few weeks ago reducing by on third the available gas. Power plants are burning diesel oil instead and hundreds of jobs have been lost already. Several coal-burning power stations have been rushed back into commission from having been retired due to their old and dirty technology so hooray! we’re burning fossil fuel faster than ever. No reserves, no contingency planning of course so we’re just waiting for the lights to go out. Will we never learn?
