Just a very quick note on the weather which has been nice and cool for a few days now thanks to Tropical Cyclone Nicholas which is hovering around the Pilbara coast and may give the folks up there a bit of a spanking if it crosses the coast. Last thursday would have been 39 degrees but for the formation of Nicholas which had the day top out at 29 instead and the issue of a revised forcast. The associated low pressure trough to the east of us is containing the next high system (at the bottom left of the chart) and those nicely spaced isobars will give us southerly winds and some rain for a while yet. And, there is a reasonably firm cold front in it’s leading edge too. My only concern, forward to which our lousy met office is not yet looking, is the intensity of that sysem which is already building beyond 1032hPA (millibars in old money, near enough). We could be in for a clay-baking fortnight, ooh errr! Ttfn Jim
