Mood: OK I suppose

Hi all, just a quick note for now as we are trying to help a local sanctuary to raise 100000 Dollars to buy their freehold and avoid closing down. Melonie has adopted a roo for me for my birthday so can I ask anyone would otherwise have bought me a pint for the occasion to slip a couple of your English pounds over there instead. Here's a link.

Yes, I know it's only a few months since I mugged you for Sea Shepherd, so many good causes....Donations and adoptions are tax deductable (ATO only, sorry.)

Take a minute to have a look around the site and if you ever see the series coming up on the BBC it's well worth a look.

Below the radar

Mood: OK I suppose but bloody freezing

Just a quick note of apology to everyone who has emailed me in the last couple of months. This is the time of year for us when, given the chance, we would hibernate. I know it’s not as cold as Europe and I’m sorry for that but it’s bloody cold and wet and miserable at the moment, never feel like blogging or emailing at all. We’ve had a couple of tropical cyclones but not as many as in recent years, Bussleton caught a fierce one a few days back which ripped hundreds of roofs off, our new roof is (thankfully) still in place. The new car is a treat and great for thrashing through flooded ...

Mood: OK I suppose

OK, I'm back to do some bragging coz we just acquired this little beauty. No longer shall be have bags of fertilizer and cement on the back seat of the pocket rocket, brilliant as it was, it was getting a bit tired and using oil so, after months of prevarication we found this Hi-Lux in a yard. It is ex Dept. of Defence, 17000k on the clock and has six seats and big-bore-four 2.7 DOHC VVTI motor with stick shift, step and bar. Sensational. We paid a lot less than was being asked, just by not giving an inch in negotiations. In the end we walked away but they phoned us back a few hours later and caved in. Looks like we got our new roof for nothing! All for now, we're off for a drive before the price of petrol goes up any more. Ttfn Jim

Mushrooms

Date: 18 May 2008, 03:50 Place: Perth, Australia

Mood: OK I suppose

Morning all, first of two entries today, remember those useless mushroom kits you buy from Bunnings or B&Q? Put them under the bed for 6 months and get not one solitary mushroom? We did that in London and just ended up chucking the whole bloody thing in the compost bin, they possibly didn't like the central heating. Well so far we're going good in our latest effort. These are Swiss Browns and have a delicious nutty flavor, they seem to like it here in Perth. Don't forget to check back here later for some pictures of, well, I might just tease you for a bit.... Save to say that we have been spending money again! Ttfn Jim
