27th July 2007 Our next stop was Bolivia, so we headed straight down to the bus station from our hotel in Puno for the next country. The bus was a very cheap local non tourist job but on the down side it was packed to the brim as usual. The bus stopped about 5 kms from the border and we were met immediately by a cyclo driver who seemed to be saying he would take us to a bus stop and a minivan would then take us to the border. Ten minutes later we were being pushed up a deserted steep hill by the cyclo driver who had by now run out of puff and was really struggling. ¨What about the minivan¨ we asked, ¨No I take you to border¨ He said trying to keep the cyclo moving up the hill. Glen had to get out help him push until he to had to give up and let him get on with it. At last we were at the border, the cyclo driver had just made it without dying from an asthma attack. We were ushered in to the police station as soon as we arrived, once we stepped foot inside two of the monkeys tried their best to get Glen in to an office on his own. We both refused to be split up, so they agreed to let us in to the office together and went through Sals bag first. She had to explain what everything was which became quite amusing as one of the officers held a tampax up to his nose and started sniffing. After a minute of searching , they turned to Glens bag and tried to separate us again. They obviously had plans for Glen. After we refused again, they got angry, pointed at Sal a lot and said we were a problem and must leave. After that experience the rest of the crossing went like clockwork, and to our relief we were soon in Copocabana, Bolivia.
