Mona Vale

Date: 17 Sep 2003, 14:39 Place: Sydney, Australia

Mood: All right

I felt a bit sick today morning, the cold that has been coming up for two weeks raised its ugly head again. Had tea and C-vitamined painkiller for brekkie and life was good. The shitty feeling also made me sleep a bit too late. Andrew had wrecked his car a bit the evening before so he was at home fixing it. He had to pop by at work so we took a bus to Mona Vale. The ride took about an hour but I considered it was low cost sightseeing because we got out of the city and on the hills so there's was lot to see for me.

Andrew works as an electronics engineer at a pretty cool place and his coworkers were just crazy. We spent some time there and I got to witness some skillful XBox modding. Actually that might also have been the first XBox I saw anywhere outside the stores' display cases.

From the office we walked a fair bit to a place called Playground O Doom where we met Jarrod and Cassa. It was a pretty good and new playground with lots of really hazardous looking apparatuses. From there we took Jarrod's car to a beach. The sand was really fine and the sound of the waves were like thunder (slight exaggeration). We don't really get oceanic waves like that in Finland so it was all the more interesting. At the beach I also took my first good glance at the southern sky. You can actually see the Milky Way, it's like a long cloud that goes across the sky. The constellation of Scorpio was also very impressive. We only saw the fake Southern Cross because the real one was too low at the horizon, obscured by the city's lights. On the way we had some pizzas. It was a good day.

Still waiting. This is actually the first picture of me in Australia. My hair looks like it's a hat. Say G'Day to Brother Tuck.

The letterboxes here aren't too big but they have interesting extensions. This box is probably from the bigger end.
