We began in a port in Cozumel, where we got off the boat. We saw that port for about 50 seconds in the morning, and about ten minutes in the evening. We began by taking a sea taxi to Playa something or rather over in Mexico. After that boat ride, and another bus ride which collectively took a couple of hours, we were in the only Mayan coastal city, Tumul. Although the architecture was influenced by the roman styles a lot, and the traditional Mayan styles of architecture were more prominent in other cities, it was still an amazing piece of history, though I didn’t get to spend nearly enough time in the city. For the first half of an hour we sere dragged around to every place I didn’t want to stop, where he’d get mad at the elderly folks for not keeping up and keeping on schedule... He did know his stuff though, and knew the area well. It’s amazing how different and similar all cultures are. After the half hour with the tour guide we were able to cut lose and I just took the camera for a few choice shots and then explored. The city was bordered by a wall, and faces a beautiful robin egg blue ocean on white sandy beaches the texture of soft cloth. Absolutely stunning. I’ll definitely have to get some of those pictures up. Anyhow, after the short time of exploration we were stuffed back onto the bus, and shipped over to a place called Xel - Ha. It’s a gorgeous lagoon, with fish swimming about, and people everywhere. Dolphins frolicked around in the blue waters, enclosed only by a thirty foot square of wooden planks and nets. The lagoon is a great place to swim around in and were it not artificially made, it would have been all that much better. I just took off with my snorkel and chased some fish around. After an hour and a half, which began with a large stressed family taking chunks out of each other once again, (tensions seem to be rising recently). But after an hour or so of swimming around and exploring the large lagoon area, and escaping with no sunburn, even after forgetting sun screen, we climbed back on the bus, and traveled for a couple of hours back to the boat, arriving twenty minutes before it went back out to sea. After dinner, we played another game of tennis soccer, followed by some basketball where we mixed in with some foreign guys and played. (My team won, of course ;) ) That brings me to here and now, where I am once again tired, so that’s all for now, no midnight walks this time, so I won’t bother you with random contemplations of mine.
